Art from the heart – Dr. Redha’s Story

In a recent interview, Dr. Redha, a Bahrain-based university professor in chemical engineering, shared her story back to art. About five years ago, she rediscovered her childhood passion for acrylic painting, using it as a source of solace and self-expression.

During the pandemic, Dr. Redha immersed herself even further in the world of acrylics. Her story stands as an inspiration, showcasing the balance between a professional life and creative pursuits.

Discussing her trilogy depicting stages of a ballet for International Women’s Day, Dr. Redha goes beyond a visual narrative, each canvas shares a powerful life lesson. These artworks unfold different chapters in a woman’s story—navigating control, resisting, and ultimately finding freedom.

Dr. Redha’s philosophy on art resonates: “Art’s beauty is in personal interpretation. It’s not just about paint on canvas; it’s about the thoughts and perceptions each viewer brings. You don’t see the real picture; you see your own projection, your inner thoughts reflected in the art. Just as in life, everyone’s perspective is unique. What you have in your mind shapes what you see.”

Aspiring artists receive a heartfelt piece of advice from Dr. Redha: “Find time for it, even if just an hour a week. It helps release stress, changes your mood, and makes you a better person. Do it for yourself, and the passion you invest will be worth it.”
