Empire Pizza in Aali isn’t your average pizza place. This is a spot run by a passionate young couple, Sally and Mohammad, where you can grab authentic New York-style pizza by the slice.
When lockdowns hit, Sally and Mo spent most of their time learning and crafting how to make the best pizzas. They turned their love for pizza-making into a serious skill. They use fresh, high-quality ingredients, including their own homemade dough (made with less yeast for a lighter feel) and herbs grown in their personal “little farm”. Even the sauces and mayo are made in-house!
Empire Pizza is currently a grab-and-go concept. There’s no dine-in option, but a small table outside allows for a quick bite if the Bahrain heat permits (we recommend eating in your car!). They’re planning delivery services in the future, so stay tuned.
We dove headfirst into five different slices:
- Chicken Ranch: The combination of ranch dressing, chicken, and the light and airy dough was a winner.
- Goat Cheese & Hot Honey: This unexpected combo surprised us in the best way possible. The tangy goat cheese balanced perfectly with the sweet honey, and the fresh basil added a delightful touch.
- Pepperoni: A classic done right – we couldn’t resist the salty goodness of the pepperoni.
- BBQ Chicken: Sweet barbecue sauce and tender chicken made this a crowd-pleaser.
- Mushroom Truffle: This one stole the show for us. The earthy mushrooms paired beautifully with the rich truffle flavour.
The best part of our experience was meeting Sally and Mohammad. Their passion and dedication to their craft are truly inspiring. We loved hearing their story about taking a chance on their dream and transforming a shutdown store into their “Empire” (pun intended).
Overall, we were thoroughly impressed, start to finish.
