Summer is here, it’s getting comfortable and not going anywhere for the next few months. What better time to check what ice cream desserts are available to keep cool for the summer months.
District 1 is home to Five Degrees, an Artisan Ice Cream Shop and we had to pay a visit.
Five Degrees is a team of five amazing women who partnered up to turn what essentially was a hobby to a thriving business. The name Five Degrees is homage to the five partners as well as the interesting fact that ice cream freezes at -5 degrees.
What started as making ice cream at home, turned into a business initially testing the market at bazaars and pop up markets. With a huge positive response, the partners decided to venture into brick and mortar and set up Five Degrees in District 1.
Having been established in District 1 for well over 2 years now, Five Degrees have maintained their vision: quality and variety, using only fresh quality ingredients and staying away from preservatives.
The menu changes every few weeks as well as seasonally to ensure variety and new flavours. However they do have some pillar favourites that will always be part of the Five Degrees menu. They also have a few vegan options such as chocolate called The Basic and Watermelon and Lemonade ice cream.
In addition, Five Degrees also offer matcha, coffees, baked goods, treats and desserts, freshly made waffle cones, as well as ice cream sammies and ice cream bites. Five Degrees also have a cute merchandise range of t shirts, sweatshirts and hats.
We tried a few of their flavours, The Basic, Little Mermaid, Honeycomb, Cookie Dough and their cute sammies. Price points are very reasonable, considering the quality ingredients used. The artisan aspect comes through in every bite; creamy and luxurious.
Our personal favourite was the Honeycomb and Little Mermaid.
