Gulf Air – The Rescue Falcon

Gulf Air has become the first commercial airline to help evacuate individuals from Afghanistan as part of the global evacuation efforts. This represents an affirmation in Bahrain’s efforts of saving lives which clearly shows the true falcon spirit.

Bahrain said that these efforts were done by the Kingdom to support humanitarian efforts, as stated by their government’s press office.

These efforts have been done in part to support the evacuation of refugees from the Taliban takeover in Afghanistan, which has caused considerable turmoil and danger for civilians.

On a global scale, countries are sending in help to Afghanistan in order to evacuate their citizens as Taliban forces continue to seize total control.

Other Arab states have also been welcoming a number of Afghan evacuees, with the United Arab Emirates welcoming approximately 5,000, and Qatar 8,000. The UAE and Qatar have also been facilitating international efforts to evacuate foreigners and vulnerable Afghans, as both countries maintain a strong alliance with the United States.

An official agreement with the Taliban was made between the Gulf states and the United States on allowing foreigners and vulnerable Afghans to be evacuated by August 31, 2021 as the deadline.
