In today’s world of marketing, brands spend millions trying to create the next viral campaign. KFC Arabia proved that sometimes the best ideas are already happening—you just have to notice them.

The campaign centred around Saudi creator Om Bdr, whose signature seasoning had become a favourite among customers who were sprinkling it over KFC chicken and sharing the results on TikTok.

Rather than launching another traditional influencer campaign, KFC embraced the trend by partnering with Om Bdr and introducing her seasoning as the brand’s “12th Ingredient”—a clever reference to KFC’s famous 11 herbs and spices.

The limited-edition collaboration quickly sold out, generated widespread engagement across social media and later received TikTok’s prestigious G.O.A.T. Award, recognising it as one of the platform’s standout campaigns.

What made the campaign particularly effective wasn’t the product itself—it was the authenticity behind it. KFC didn’t manufacture a trend; it recognised one that already existed and became part of the conversation.

As brands compete for attention in increasingly crowded digital spaces, campaigns like this are a reminder that some of the strongest marketing ideas don’t begin in a boardroom. They begin with listening.
