In our recent conversation with Ness Maher, a dedicated calligrapher from Bahrain, we were deeply interested in her journey into full-time calligraphy and the artistry she brings to her craft.
Ness Maher, who started her artistic journey in 2018 after her graduation, has now turned her love for art into a fulltime venture, using acrylic paint and blending freestyle Arabic calligraphy into her work.
Considering her approach to creativity, Ness Maher shared, “There’s no wrong way in art, only your own way, you play and experiment with it. There is no wrong in art; there’s only the way you express it.”
One standout piece in her collection is a custom Sufi painting, where Ness Maher carefully designed the background to add words and layers to add significance and value to the piece. She explained, “I want to produce art which captures the heart more than the eye, and with the Sufi painting, there is a very deep meaning behind it.”
Ness Maher is grateful for the support she gets from her community of artists called House of Art Bahrain, a platform on Instagram that recognizes artists and hosts events for artists to showcase their work. Ness Maher continues her artistic journey, she encourages embracing individuality and finding joy in the creative process.
Ness Maher concluded, “Take your time and trust the process, and it will all be okay.
It’s life. Stay patient, do your practices and with that, you will get better.”
