Morning at Monet

With breakfast in mind, we found ourselves drawn to Monet, a café situated in Tubli, Bahrain. We entered Monet and were greeted by a unique setup – one side featuring a small art gallery called Safeya Kanoo Hub, while the other displayed items for sale, with profits benefiting the Bahrain Trust Foundation

As we moved further inside, we explored Monet’s inviting indoor and outdoor seating areas. The outdoor seating, surrounded by greenery, which offered a refreshing connection with nature but occasional flies were a minor nuisance. However, they offered a small fan that kept them away.

Our dining experience took an unexpected turn when one of my colleagues faced difficulty finding an egg-free option on the menu. Disappointingly, the chef couldn’t confirm if the toast contained eggs, as they sourced the bread elsewhere. This lack of ingredient awareness left us feeling disappointed, as we believe chefs and restaurant owners should take pride in serving dishes they are well-informed about.

Nevertheless, my colleague ordered the summer salad from the lunch menu, which the staff graciously accommodated, considering they were only serving breakfast at the time.  Moving on to the other breakfast items, we tried the berry pancakes, which wasn’t as sweet as we would have liked, however, we appreciated having honey on the side to sweeten them to our liking. The runny whipped cream wasn’t something we were expecting. As for the falafel brioche, it exceeded our expectations. The beetroot tahini sauce added a subtle touch, although we wished for a more pronounced taste. The standout element was the brioche itself, with its delightful sweetness complementing the savory falafel and tangy pickled turnips.

Overall, our visit to Monet left us with mixed feelings – while the ambiance was inviting, the dining experience fell short of our expectations. With some improvements to their menu, Monet has the potential to become a beloved brunch spot in Tubli.
